Depressurization Accident involving Payne Stewart
On October 25, 1999, a Learjet 35 crashed in South Dakota, killing all five people aboard, including professional golfer Payne Stewart.
Claims were brought by the families of the victims against numerous parties, including every facility that had any involvement in the maintenance of the plane. One of these maintenance facilities was a large repair station in Nebraska that had been involved in the inspections of the integrity of the pressurization system on the plane.
Mr. Hill represented the maintenance facility in the five lawsuits brought as a result of the crash. By carefully reviewing the logbooks of the plane and reviewing the work orders of the maintenance facility, he showed that his client had no significant involvement with any portion of the pressurization system that could have caused the failure that led to the accident. Mr. Hill’s client was dismissed from the litigation.
