
Ken Doucette works as an aviation consultant for Florida Aviation Counsel. Mr. Doucette has had a wide ranging career in aviation which brings a unique perspective to the qualifications of Florida Aviation Counsel.
Mr. Doucette joined the U.S. Army in 1969 and was commissioned as an Army officer. He received his wings as a helicopter pilot and, based on his experience and safety record, was awarded the wings of a Master Army Aviator. His army career took him to posts throughout the world. He retired as a Lt. Coronel in 1991.
After retiring from the Army, Mr. Doucette joined the faculty of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, one of the largest pilot training universities in the country. In 1996, he was appointed the Assistant Chief Flight Instructor and Director of Flight Standards for the University. In 1997, Mr. Doucette was promoted to Chief Flight Instructor for the University. In this position, he was in charge of the safe training of over 1,000 student pilots. In leading this organization, Mr. Doucette had a staff of over 80 flight instructors.
During his tenure as Chief Flight Instructor at the university, Mr. Doucette was involved in the investigation of all of the aircraft accidents and incidents which occurred at the University. During these investigations, Mr. Doucette took part in aircraft investigations as a party representative to the NTSB and as a member of the faculty of the university making probable cause reports to the Board of the University.
Mr. Doucette resigned as the Chief Flight instructor of the University in 2005. He now works as a aviation consultant for Florida Aviation Counsel and is employed as a corporate pilot flying multiengine aircraft.
Mr. Doucette holds an Airline Transport rating, a Commercial Pilot rating, a Certified Flight Instructor, Instruments, a Helicopter rating, and a Ground Instructor rating. He has over 5,000 flight hours. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and a Masters degree in Logistics Management from Florida Institute of Technology.
Mr. Doucette is a member of the National Association of Flight Instructors, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Army Aviation Association of America.
Mr. Doucette is married and lives with his wife in Port Orange, Florida, at the Spruce Creek Fly-In.
